Thhn wiring through routered raceway

So I am new here and I hope I am posting this in the right sub if not please let me know.

For a costumer I have built a permanent installation fire place mantel. I have routered a 1 inch deep run the whole length of the mantel for Rope style lighting to shine up against the wall... however now he also wants 14-2 ran to the middle for a tv. could I get away with utilizing thhn in the routered race. Or is romex going to be required here

thank you all in advance for the help, I just wanna make sure theres gonna be no issues for the guy in the future because I would feel like a jerk.
