An old timer came into the electrical dept yesterday and asked for 18" of BX. I said we only sell it by the foot, you can't do too much with 18", how about two foot? "Oh no, two foot is too much, I only need 18". Okay, so I cut him 18" and hand it over. "Okay now I need these in a smaller size, so that they'd work on this BX". I look and he has a bag of 1/2" emt couplings in his hand. "That's the smallest size, what do you plan on doing" I asked. Well the guy wanted to join two BX's together and use the coupling to hold it all together. When asked how he planned on splicing the wires together (12 gauge) inside of a coupling, he said he was going to solder them. I told him he was crazy but he thanked me for my help.

Another Jersey DIY'er came in yesterday complaining that the shower trim he bought doesn't fit the remodel can he had installed. He had cut in a standard depth 5" can but it was too deep/tall for the opening so he "Crushed" the top of the can so it would fit. The trim didn't fit though because it was a 6" model and since we don't sell 5" shower trims I told him he could remove the now mangled can and install a shallow 6" one. "No no, that's too much work" and he threw an open 5" trim into his cart. "Hey, didn't you say that this is going to be in the shower?" I asked. He replied yes but that it's okay and went on his way.

By the way, everytime a contractor comes in I wonder if it's Celtic. Celtic, what supply houses do you use? I'm in Lodi.

"Jersey" has an airport?!!

couple of 'em...that one is mostly private/corporate jets...but don't forget Liberty International (formerly Newark Airport) is one of the busiest in the country...(it's just outside of NYC)

You bring a pie...I'll bring some Rippers...pick a mid-point between DO's and Rutt's for an exchange :)
