If the op is talking about his duplicate post then yes, I deleted it. Here is the thread https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/gen-set-placement.2572952/#post-2818351

Why would I leave 2 posts that were exactly the same. The other deleted post in the same thread was closed by another mad because it had a quote of someone else but no comment after it.

Not sure why @Fordean is having an issue with those closures.

That’s why the U.S. Congress passed a law, Section 230 (originally part of the Communications Decency Act), that protects Americans’ freedom of expression online by protecting the intermediaries we all rely on. It states:

"No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." (47 U.S.C. § 230(c)(1)).

Section 230 embodies that principle that we should all be responsible for our own actions and statements online, but generally not those of others. The law prevents most civil suits against users or services that are based on what others say.

Just curious.

Probably is but does anyone want to find out or have someone ever think that they have a case against you even if legal. I don't I'm happy to never know what it's like to have someone try and ruin you.

That may be the case but I think Mike doesn't want his forum built up with controversial agendas in politics, etc. We have enough controversy on the interpretation of the code.

And whether L2 is 180 degrees out of phase with or inverted from L1.

Short answer- yes.

Longer answer- Section 230 does not prohibit providers from enforcing terms-of-service; among other things, it allows a provider to completely ban a user for breaking those terms.

(And as an aside, the 1st amendment only applies to government control of provate speech, it do not prevent a private entity from deciding who gets to say what in their own living room or web site. I'm leaving common carriers out of this since they're not relevant.)

If this is the thread you are talking about

It was closed/locked due to it getting led off-track and into controversial subjects. There was a number of posts deleted. There comes a point where you can only delete so many posts due to the mess it makes of the thread. It wasn't anything against you or anyone in particular. These are the rules we have to go by so it was closed.

In fact, the 1st Amendment gives the owners of websites like this the Constitutional freedom of speech right to determine what does, and what doesn't, get expressed on their website. Similarly, anyone is free to get their own site and say just about anything they want.
