G gilb New member Jun 25, 2003 #1 Is there a min size wire for three phase motors.Can't find it in book, but thought it was 14ga.This is industrial fixed machines.The wires do run in gator track,not more than 30ft.

Generally speaking, 310.5 does state a minimum size of #14 copper is permitted, however there are several exceptions including one for motors. This exception takes you to 430.22(F) and 430.145(B) and allows a minimum of #18 provided you meet the requirements of these sections.
