I’ve seen California three ways and understand the wiring. But I’m curious what would be the reasoning for doing it as opposed to a traditional three way wiring?

I’ve seen California three ways and understand the wiring. But I’m curious what would be the reasoning for doing it as opposed to a traditional three way wiring?

You can run three wires from the house to a detached garage, have a 3-way between them, and still have constant/unswitched power in the garage for lights, outlets, the door operator etc.
