Why would you expect it to pick up voltage on a grounded conductor?

I didn't know it was a grounded B system. I'm fairly new to this company and being the only maintenance tech there was nothing for me to go on. OTher places I've worked there are labels on the panels saying grounded B. There was nothing to tell me that. not even a different colored lead like there is supposed to be. just 3 black wires going into the disconnect. There was no way for me to know short of checking with a meter that it was a grounded system. There are now labels on the systems that I know are grounded.
