I often have a hard time calculating labor that has to be based on time on job such as non working foreman which usually equates to large $ value.

I often come across a schedule given by the owner/GC then calculate my hours and figure a certain # of men for given weeks based on my manhours and its often less than the schedule given.

So do I figure the schedule given or the duration my manhours/# of men are coming up with?

For a sizeable commercial renovation are you guys often onsite the ENTIRE time? I know it depends on scope so tough to answer.

In short, yes, we are onsite the entire length of the job. Depending on the job you will need to do many additional tasks that don't always have a line item in the contract. Welding drops and wiring up other trade specific machinery.

If your hours are less then the permitted schedule I would consider adjusting decreasing your man power for the duration of the project so your time on site is for the schedule
