Tips on bending 2" pvc?

Sand is the method I use for large size pvc bends also. Course we got lots of sand around.

Tonyou812 I never heard of the sand method, interesting. I always just plug the ends with rags and keep the pipe moving to create equal heat.

Mdshunk had a good idea about the shoe for the hydraulic bender.

When I was in votech there was this one fellow from south africa that showed us how they would fill the pipe with sand (I dont remember how he temporaraly sealed it) and then they would heat the pipe and then bend it with the sand and he made some real tight 90's. He used a hotbends pipe bender. Kind of similar to the tool they use to tar roofs.

The only reason I do field bends in to get away from tight 90s. Given the option, I'll bend a 90 with as wide a radius as possible. 99% of my PVC installations are underground, so if I can get a 10' radius on a 2" pipe (even if I need to segment it across 3 sticks!), I'll do it. I'll make it up when it comes time to pull the wire.
