Too expensive to use a free panel

So about 3 weeks ago I won a 200amp 40circuit SqD QO panel with cover from my local distributor during a customer appreciation day.

Today I dropped it off at a customer's house where I am replacing a FPE StabLock 200amp panel. I counted the circuits that I needed and went to the supply house to get what I needed (doing the job next week).

I purchased:
9 dbl pole 20's
8 s pole 20's
6 s pole 15's
2 dbl pole 30's
2 copper gnd rods
24' of bare 4awg copper
5 various clamps
2 15hole neutral/gnd bars

Total price: $400.67

I pushed the QO breakers back over the counter, and bought:

1 Homeline 200am 40 circuit panel with cover and everything else listed above in Homeline.

Total cost: $399.35

It was cheaper for me to buy the Homeline panel and everything else than it was just to buy the QO breakers with the other miscellaneous stuff!

I will save the QO panel for an upgrade when I come across a 100amp QO that I upgrade to a 200amp, otherwise, just not worth it unless the QO gets spec'd out on a commercial job or elsewhere.

Go figure.

How much do you want for it? Serious... PM me. I only use QO panels.

A lot of my customers would rather pay extra for the QO panel just for the ease of identifying a tripped circuit. I give everyone the option to choose.
 
company I work for only installs SQD, QO style. Resi dept, has more difficulty sellin it to the cust though b/c of the price. Commerical, it's all QO baby!
 
I can return it to the supply house for credit but I will hold on to it because sooner or later I will be upgrading a 100QO to a 200QO.

I don't feel bad at all. I was just surprised at how much the difference in breaker price is.
 
what are you paying for QO120s? pm me if you dont want to post it publicly for fear the general public would say "what? $100 to replace a circuit breaker? but they only cost you X dollars"
 
I am a Qo installer it all that we install. We are looking at Cutlar Hammer but still did not make the move, cost is not the issue. We are on a buy program with Sqd cause we do so much Sqd Qo, we get a discount, look into it but you have to do at least 15 service a month.
 
QO 120 is about $7.30
dbl pole now up to $17 and change.

The prices jumped up a few months ago. I am on a special program with Sq. D through the supply house.

For a QO200/40 I pay $180. Lowes has them for $209 last time I checked.
 
A number of my residential customers prefer QO simply because of the trip indicator. It seems that those with money are always sold when I show them a QO and a standard breaker. Just my two cents.

If that is true, I hope they apply it to an existing breaker and not make a new system, all I need is more breakers to keep on hand for service calls....

Doing some quick research and it Square D says the visi-trip came out in 66 or 67. Some quick website searches say a patent is only good for 20 years. Did a CH rep give you this info?
