Gentlemen...I just registered and my last question was answered so wonderfully I am beginning to have more trust in this forum than my coworkers.
Here's the question: I have an air compressor that has a control panel as part of it. The compressor control panel has pins to turn it on, tell you if its running etc, there is also a 24vdc to "wet" the contacts. I want to interface this air compressor with a VFD about 6-700 feet away. I have a pump that I want to turn on at the same time as the Air compressor, and I show a control panel near my pump ( and 600') from my air compressor. This control panel via a relay contact closes the pins to the air compressor and pump at the same time via a 120v relay.
Does the 120v relay simply close each contact for the pump and air compressor and will I have to apply a 24VDC source to the compressor and the pump ( the pump run signal is given via a VFD, so really im closing the VFD run contacts)
I think I can close the air compressor contacts fine with a relay and then apply a 24vdc to the air compressor start pin, but what about a signal back from the compressor that says its running?
I am good enough to be dangerous with this stuff hahaha, thank you!
Here is a picture showing the start/stop pin and a 24vdc next to it....so just connect the two and place my relay contacts n between them for control??
