Re: tops on feeders {service}

Hey, it must be the sinus drugs I'm on, becuase it makes sense to me.

I translate it as:
[I have a] 300A service [fed by] 350kcmil underground conductors. I want to tap these conductors with two sets of 1/0 and feed to two 150 amp main disconnects. [Each] disconnect will feed a transfer switch and [I will] use the existing panels as sub[panels]. Do you guys see anything wrong with this.

Jim your good. :cool:

If what you translated is correct I would say it could be done code compliantly.

But that is a big jump of faith as we know so little.

Load calcs would need to be done to ensure the service conductors are sufficient.

The taps would need to be made properly, no 'double lugging'

The bonding of this new service disconnects would need to be done.

The 'taps' would be service conductors and would need to be short and protected from damage.

Just a lot we do not know.
