The complete risers, 2 of them in a 12 story building plus horizontal runs, All busway connections were loose.

Guess the installer knew nothing about the sheer heads on those bolts. You think that they would have seen the red warning labels.

Don't bother to investigate why it blows just replace it, this was a one time IR customer (an EC) had replaced the fuse several times and wanted us to try and determine why it kept blowing. There is visual evidence of thermal damage on the "C" phase line side fuse clips.

I see the thermal issue in #5 but I wouldn't think that the 10-12 deg F above ambient in #1 would normally scream for attention.

Are those smaller wire double lugged? Or maybe they are terminated with ring terminals under the lug....

I just have to say that when techs double lug these tiny (comparatively) wires onto the power lugs is drives my nuts!

Thanks Brian for sharing the pictures! IR has really been a plus to the industry. I have only a couple of times worked with this. We rented the camera(Flir). What is your take on the small Fluke brand?

These adaptors are for terminating AL into connectors supposedly in a BETTER manner. But it is one of the main issues we see with AL over straight AL connections. I am not sure if it is a bad product or due to improper tool being utilized to crimp.

We did not get the repair, our IR tech does current readings and FOP readings on all IR discrepancies.

I've only been involved with one IR scan provided by another company. The customer showed us the scan with several, probably a dozen or so terminations that were uneven temperature with us doing the repairs. I wondered why the IR techs didn't show the loading in the test reports myself? Do you normally show the load as well as the temp readings on each phase?

We show load currents, FOP readings (in field reports), and our tech's do calculations that determine class of discrepancy based on rating of equipment, load at time of IR and temperature of the deficient item and ambient.
