I know this is way off topic and if inappropriate, please delete.

I have been tasked with trying to have some attachments made for a 1/2" pneumatic impact gun. The attachments we use now are basically an impact socket welded to various implements. The problem is that the weld breaks and occasionally, someone will be holding the socket in their hand when it breaks...OUCH. I have created a drawing of the tooling I would like to have made but I am unable to find specifications for heat treating the tools to a specific hardness. Does anyone here know what hardness an impact socket is made to? Thanks in advance.

Try www.practicalmachinist.com. It's a very active machinist forum and I'm sure somebody there will have an answer for you, and you may find somebody near you that can make the tools you're looking for as well. There are also some knowledgeable folks on there in the phase converter and VFD forum - very interesting reading.
