I am working with a company with numerous trailer portable generators, 240V 3 ph and 480 3ph, various KW/KVA sizes. We need a way to identify the generators, other than the green Onan, or tan Generac. The concern also is the capacity to know what load it can run.
Any suggestions on a system to identify voltage-KW?

Is the general nomenclature to use KW or the correct term KVA?

Fred/Mel/Carston/Kathryn?

(Dealing with rental stock) I've always seen them just with an ordinal equipment number, which means having a schedule that lists their output/config/etc. Likewise, and I think this is rather sloppy, the size is often stated in amps (a 1200amp genset) assumed to be 120/208v 3ph. I much prefer KW, as usually most of my loads are incandescent lighting and other reasonably high PF bits and I can do any math required.
