Transfer switch 3-pole

The neutral and ground are in parallel with each other. The ground wire will carry current along with the neutral.

Yes, but just because the neutral is not switched does not mean it needs to be it must be bonded at the x-switch or anywhere else past the generators. Thus not creating a parallel path. Am I still not thinking right.

Lets go back to the op and ask if each gen set has OCP. I was under the presumption it did not. If each unit does, then gen set 1 can be the SDS and gen set 2 can be non SDS and the 3-pole transfer switch can be used. If both gen sets do not have OCP, then i stand by all my previous post.

Okay, like I said I read thru the thread a few times but I am still not sure about the OCP at the generators. Although I believe a generator disconnect could work rather than OCP if the generator output is not more than 115% the rating of the conductors feeding the transfer switch. So in theory, the conductors are protected because the output of the gen. is not enough to damaged the conductors.

Sketch looks good. I agree, with the neutral not being switched, the second generator would not be an SDS. I think I was struggling with the presentation more than anything.

Thanks guys, good copy. Both generators have OCP. My original post refers to page 37 of Mike's Grounding vs. Bonding guide. The generators show OCP. You may not have one and couldn't refer to it. I will be more specific in the future. I wonder if the guide will reflect this scenario in the future to avoid this question. Labeling "Utility or Gen 1" at one source would accomplish that.
Again , thanks for your help.
