Transformer Position

The installation instructions on one brand of 12v lighting transformer specified for vertical mounting only.

Is this standard for all magnetic transformers?

If I install a transformer sideways on a wall will I have any safety concerns?

It most likely is due to the way it is constructed, keeping water out. If it's mounted on its side, then water will make its way under the cover.

It is probably a heat dissipation issue and you risk early failure if you mount it other than vertically.
