Transformer Question

I am a big fan of soft starters for applications like this. I have never tried one before a transformer between the load, but in theory, it would work.

Yes, it works fine, done it for MV submersibles several times. The only thing is that the soft starter has to be sized to cover the losses in the transformer too.
