Transformer vs Utility

I am unaware of a simple passive device that can spread one single large single phase load over three phases. From what I know you need to use an MG-set and AC-DC-AC type converter.

Well, the Northeast Corridor does it at megawatt levels, but they are also making 25 Hz from 60, so that hardly counts....

they are using static converters, motor-gen sets and hydro-turbine generators (operating at 25 Hz single phase) not weird xfrm arrangements

True... and lots of dust and [m]old. (The power system dates back to the original ~1920 PRR system.)
