We have several oil filled power transformers (15kV to 480V) stored on site outdoors. They have a nema 3R rating. The present climate is between 15F in the early am and roughly 45F in the pm. Our manager wants the Xfmrs covered with a plastic tarp-a duration of about 6 months until they are installed.
There will be snow/rain and high winds during this time frame. My concern is with coverage there might be condensate build-up due to temperature swings and cause damage to the windings. Is this a valid concern or am I over-reacting?
