I recently found a circuit breaker panel mounted on the side of a step down transformer. Is this within Code. If so where is it in the code book.
 
Welcome to the Forum.
Keep in mind the Code, for the most part, addresses points that are violations as opposed to points permitted. There is, to the best of my knowledge, nothing to prohibit the practice you as long as all the appropraite Code sections are met (110.26, Art 408 etc)
 
Is this part of a permanent installation? We have set ups like that for temporary 120V power. We power the transformer off the nearest 60A, 480V welding outlet.
