I am having a problem understanding one of the line items on the spec sheet.

Electrical Products rule reads as follows. I am stuck what 2nd rule means Whats you guys take

1st rule reads

STP power conduits run be run separate raceway entire wiring must be in PVC coated conduit.

2nd rule reads

Run PVC coated galv steel for wiring runs exposed to weather for MAIN GROUNDING CONDUCTOR. Where required for mechanical protection or where specifically indicated.

That's common in places where there are corrosive gasses in the atmosphere. They are instructing you to run the GEC in conduit, not exposed as you might in other situations.

They're saying that the GEC must be protected in conduit where exposed to physical damage. This is not a requirement in the NEC for #6 or larger wire but it may be a requirement of the architect/engineer. If you're unsure, check with the architect.

It says "for mechanical protection."

It is also possible there are other 'main' conductors from grounding plates/busses in each equipment room as well as the GEC.

What kind of job is this Mannyb? Fueling system? At ...?
It's remodel UST for gas station. I understand I need to use RMC conduit but does it need to be coated? I dont understand the rule when it mentions run pvc coated conduit for main grounding conductor. Isnt The main grounding conductor at service entrance not branch circuit going towards dispenser?

I would have the same question as you. Is this on a drawing? Is the EE available for questions?
