This popped up on Wednesday. We are building a box culvert for a roadway project. We have found a 115kv transmission line that did not show up on the prints. Local POCO says it's not theirs. Who the hell would it belong to??? Do the guys with the Black SUV's and the Black hawk Helicopters from the nearby FBI Building own it? We need to move it to proceed with the project. Who do I call in Tampa Florida? I don't know who identified it as a 115kv line.

Under Ground Service Alert. Used to be "USA" call before you dig.

that would be "Sunshine One Call". I have to assume that's who found it.

If they found it they know who owns it. When cables like this are run they are also mapped. Just like water, sewer, telecom, etc. so call them back and see who they call to respond for tagging it, with the high liability involved in digging up pipelines and power lines they keep good records as to who was called.

Here it is "dig safe" and once notified it becomes their problem.

( I kind of like the cut it idea, you will find the owner. )

It seems like the local pocos are separating the transmision lines from the power generation. I am not exactly sure why but there must be a good reason involving money. Here we just transfered to National Grid for transmision who bought an entire fleet of all new vehicles running around everywhere.

There can't be that many power companies or electric co-ops in your area .
If nobody claims it , call your local public service commision , or whatever it's called in your area .

I know this doesn't help you in Florida, but most of the transmission in my picture below is operated by a company called PJM Interconnection.

Thank you for that tidbit of completely useless information. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is fascinated by that stuff. ;)
