Can someone explain what a triple rating means for wire insulation.
I believe this is required for UG installations???

I imagine the reference is to wire which simply has more than one insulation rating.
Some cables, underground or not, carry more than one such as RHW-USE-XHHW or THWN-THHN etc.
This allows them to be suitable for more applications.

I don't know if it's the same thing but we use tri-rated cable.
It meets three international standards, British, UL, and CSA.

You can use different types of conductors for inside work and outside work, but if you want to use the same conductors for inside and outside they must be listed for that use. Conductors that have these 3 listings USE-2/RHH/RHW2 can be used inside and outside. If you take a look at table 310.104A it will gi8ve you the Conductor Construction and applications
