Have a question.

I have a builder that has asked me to run temporary power from a temporary
pole to a home while remodeling.

It is a 200 amp outside service panel with disconnect on a pole that
PoCO is running power to overhead.

Hear is my question.

I Cannot run wire underground because of plants that homeowner doesn't want disturbed, so I ran PVC conduit overhead supported with wood. Can I use Quadplex or Triplex with an additional ground to Main service panel in
house.

If not, what kind do I need?

Next question was if I had not run conduit, what kind can I run overhead?

Next Question what kind of wire should I use in the riser/weatherhead above meter?

I have gotten different answers all over the map from licensed
electricians and inspectors and now i am more confused.

Thx.

Just run the quad plex from pole to pole out of the way of construction as down the property line on the owners side. 10' from the ground.

Triplex and Quadplex have typically been used as a temporary overhead service drop to buildings and structures, (not in a conduit or enclosure) spliced at the weatherhead to appropriately sized and insulated, copper or aluminum conductors.
Triplex has typically been used on 120/240V single phase, 3 wire systems, while Quadruplex has been used on 3 phase, 4 wire systems.

My response is based in part on info and rules contained in the Construction Standard 1926.402 thru .405.
"Messenger supported wiring" (Quadruplex, Triplex) are not listed or labeled products and these products are intended for use by utilities as an overhead system, outdoors, spliced or terminated in open air.
These conductors may be easily damaged with physical contact. And the covering, a polypropalene material is typically a covering only, not an insulation!
1926.403(a) Approval. All electrical conductors and equipment shall be approved.
1926.405(a)(2)(ii)(b) Feeders . . . may be run as open conductors on insulators, supported not more than 10 feet apart.

Although the wire selection (aluminum preferred of course) is acceptable, this non-typical installation cannot be recommended.
You would experience support, (352.30 B ) thermal expansion, ( Table 352.44 A ) and cost issues with this wiring method.

triplex

triplex

it happens fairly often around here. a piece of quad, or triplex with a 4th wire added, from the temp. sleeved in LNMF or PVC to a permanent or temp panel.
not correct, not code...but i've yet to see a fuss by an inspector.
again...that's here......

as mention in one of georges ongoing threads....temporaries in this area get a lot of slack.
