That's exactly why I don't use a DMM for most electrical work. A wiggy style meter will load the circuit down and prevent misleading measurements.

And if you drop it from 30 ft. up you don't feel like falling on your large screwdriver.:wink:

three way do it to. First time it happened to me it took three hour to figure it out. Then realized if I put the ground to the low voltage leg (40v) it went away, then I was like you bonehead it induced voltage..... so I put it all together and fixed the three way that was improperly wired (original call) and went outside and smashed my voltage stick and digital meter. I have never used a digital meter for trouble shooting again 10yrs.. I do use it for other things but not trouble shooting.
