I am new here and will appreciate any help you can give.
I have worked as an electrician (Residential / Light Commerical) for many years, but have now found myself working for a Motorized Window Covering Manufacturer as their Electronics Specialist. Hence the Shady in my name, for roller shades. My electrical background helps in communicating to Sparkys across the country why they can't parallel wire bi-directional tubular motors.
So I remeber there being an NEC code for limiting the length of wire that comes off a motor. Our Motors come standard with a 6ft 18/3 stranded cable in a white sheath, but you can buy a cable that is 24ft long.
1 - Does anyone know the code for the length of lead off of a motor like this before it hits the junction box? (the motors are generally .95A-1.2A)
2 - On a side note we are asked for plenum rated motor leads on occasion, of which there are none. Is the only option to keep the motor lead length to a minimum in this case?
