Here is recessed power plug would work great behind a LCD or Plasma TV on the wall. Also has an opening to easily feed the other AV cords through the wall.

I've seen lamp cord which was run in a wall and the insulation was brittle and had completely fallen off from both conductors in some areas. I just barely touched the wire (to remove it of course) and a whole bunch more insulation came off!

Yet I have seen old appliances with the same type of cord which were kept inside a house and the insulation was still in good shape.
