Two breakers to control one outlet?

I was thinking the same thing too, unless it's a Pushmatic panel or some other antiquated model that's configured differently from today's panels.

It was a CH tan handle. Now that I think about it, the breakers involved were on the right side of the panel, so even numbers. I definitely got the numbers wrong. They were near the top of the panel so more likely 4 & 8....
