Two Compressors, One Pump

My wife and I live on a small sailboat. We recently hired a refrigeration technician to fix some problems but it turns out we hired the wrong guy. He pulled both the refrigerator and freezer compressors for testing but kept them for months. I finally threatened legal action and he returned most of the components - in a box. Luckily, I found a competent technician who was able to get everything up and running EXCEPT getting the sea water pump to work regardless of which compressor is cycling. (We use sea water to cool the Freon via a condenser.). Each compressor has a terminal which delivers 12vdc when the compressor is cycling. However, if I run a lead from each compressor to the pump, one of the compressor's will start the pump when it cycles but the other won't. I don't know why.

Things had been working fine for many years. The original installation had three separate relays to get the pump to work properly but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to wire it back up. Can anyone help me?
