Can one underground conduit be used to carry the branch circuit feeds from both units to the garage. The local inspector is nor allowing it.

Re: Two family homes / Two services

Is this a single building with two occupancies, or two separate structures?

The way you describe it, it sounds like this is a single building with ONE service but with probably two service disconnects. One for each unit.

Is the garage shared by both occupancies? Please exaplain in more detail of what you are you were intending to do. :)

Re: Two family homes / Two services

It is a single building with a single service drop and two meters one for each suite. Yes the garage is used by both tennants. This question would hold whe piping the basement and using the same conduit for both suites.

I almost got caught on this recently. Outbuilding is allowed 1 branch circuit before becoming a feeder drop. (And must have 'master disconnect switch'.)
