Re: two ground rods

well i'm certainly not an inspector, but i've wired enough houses to know what they want. i can only speak of what goes on in central georgia because thats the only place i've ever done electrical work. here we are required to drive 2 ground rods wire the #4 bare copper going to the meter base. #6 is not allowed here. also, we are not required to place smoke detectors inside the bedroom, but they must be placed within 6 ft of each bedroom.

OK so i`m dislexic i meant to type GEC 250.66 notes 2 where there are no ser.ent.cond. the grounding elec.cond. shall be sized to the largest service conductor that would be required for the load to be served, this being the fact how many of you have built a service without laterals installed by POCO, so i stand on what i said go by 250.66 table........................

Allen, what does service lateral or drop have to do with the GEC if the GE is a rod,(or rods) regardless of who installs it ?

Article 250.66(A) and (B)are before you get to the table. Unless a local ammendment saying 250.66(A) and (B) can't be used, then a #6 copper is all that is required for (A) no matter the size service or a #4 for (b).

And yes, I have installed many laterals to a pad mount xfrmr or pole which ever the case may be, both residential and commercial. You are right that laterals are not service entrance conductors.
