Two Large Padmount Transformers Next to Each Other?

Hey guys, I have a rather strange transformer question, we have a building with a substation powering it off of 44 kv transmission lines. Currently there are 44kv lines and 12.5kv lines on the property. At some point the owner had power company pull the large 4,200 kva substation transformer out and the feed the building with 300 kva off of the 12.5 kv line using the existing substation busing. The current tenant needs more than 300 kva, we would like demo the substation and install two large padmount transformers next to one another. The power company will only install up to a single 2,500 kva transformer and then if you want a second it needs to be 300 feet away unless they are different voltages, you can put a 480 and 208 close to each other. This all seems kinda strange to me, can anyone tell me why this is?

There are two switchgear systems in the building right next one another so we would just feed each switchgear with a 2,500 kva transformer.

You have to find out if they are primary billed or secondary. If the POCO owns the transformers, you will be stuck with their rules. If the property owner will own the transformers downstream of the meters, then you can do whatever you like, especially if they are dry type or FR3 liquid.

Thanks guys...the 300ft is a POCO rule. We are looking at doing the transformers on our own and metering on the primary side.\

Anyone know where to get metering equipment...the POCO is 6 months out on padmount primary metering box and 1 year our on pole mount primary metering...that seems nuts to me.

Denver to look into Fire, EPA, and insurance requirements.

I once put two customer owned transformers within 10' of each other. Our concerns involved fire rules for flammable fluids so that one transformer would not directly impact the other ( a block wall was built), and liquid run off into navigatable waters ( non-permeable catch pits were needed).

Hey guys, thanks for all the idea's and points. Can anyone explain how to estimate monthly cost for transformer because we will be metering on the primary side of things?
