Hey guys, I have a rather strange transformer question, we have a building with a substation powering it off of 44 kv transmission lines. Currently there are 44kv lines and 12.5kv lines on the property. At some point the owner had power company pull the large 4,200 kva substation transformer out and the feed the building with 300 kva off of the 12.5 kv line using the existing substation busing. The current tenant needs more than 300 kva, we would like demo the substation and install two large padmount transformers next to one another. The power company will only install up to a single 2,500 kva transformer and then if you want a second it needs to be 300 feet away unless they are different voltages, you can put a 480 and 208 close to each other. This all seems kinda strange to me, can anyone tell me why this is?
There are two switchgear systems in the building right next one another so we would just feed each switchgear with a 2,500 kva transformer.

Thanks,
Anthony
