no one said anything about mwbc or the like...unless i misunderstood the problem, i thought he just didn't want to extend the circuit with pigtails

This forum goes the extra mile and covers all possible scenarios:wink: Messing with neutrals can really cause some grief.

no, i hear ya...i like that aspect about the guys on here..every senario is covered....but, i was just thinking in terms of extending the circuit, and i misworded my earlier statement

It was added in 02?!? Then why have always remembered it being only one per - and GEC's allowed two??????? I have been at this for a bit of time before 02....

What would he be doing to create a MWBC? What did I miss here?

The talk was about taking two neutrals and making a pigtail so that only one wire was under a screw instead of two. In doing so are you not creating a MWBC if the ungrounded conductors were on different phases???

It has been a listing requirement for a long long time, but many installers fail to read the instructions, so the a rule was added in the 2002 code to back up the listing instructions.

Had a homeowner ask about a home inspection that said her panel was in code violation by having more than one netural under one screw. House is about 15 yrs old.My question what code cycle was it changed to one netural per screw. I thought the 96 code can i get some help so i won't have to research it so much Thanks

Another Home Inspector doing a highly qualified persons work (a electricial inspectors job), and is unqualified to be working in an electrical panel with out a license..So another home owner spending money on repairs that are not illegal or unsafe..

Thanks for the speedy reply... I checked the termations and they were tight also I would have changed them except they would have not reached and would have had to splice most all of them and I feel that would have been more of a problem .Don't like to splice any more than need to.. Wish Home inspectors would get a little more training..

Why mess with what was code when it was installed..

Interesting thought , If the home inspector is not licensed as an electrician should he even be taking the panel cover off ? At that point he is in a hazardous situation unless he has shut off the panel, and I would guess most do not.
