All Carlon closed back boxes have a 2hr fire rating.
A single splice like the Tyco doesnt bother me from a fire aspect... think of the thousands of miles of NM installed every year, some with shredded jackets, bad splices, backstabbed receptacles, damage from rodents, being kinked, overdriven staples, etc. Just the fact that I am using a product that I wouldnt normally use, and knowing it will be concealed would prompt me to take more time to get it right.
"They are a one-time-use item and once locked together are very difficult to separate. In fact, once separated they are not to be reused and must be replaced. The device is stamped with the wording 'DO NOT RE-TERMINATE'".
