type 1 construction - electrical requirements?

I'm doing a seven-story residential unit where part of the construction is wood frame and part of the construction (the remodeling portion) is type 1 metal frame. The architect tells me this will significantly increase electrical installation costs, but he's not sure why. Any ideas? Thx.

You can't use NM cable in Type I construction. See 334.12.
