Hello,

If a Tripp Lite Surge protector does not have a UL1449 label on it but the manufacturer's wording on Amazon says that it is QUOTE "Certified to meet strict UL standards (UL 1449 4th Edition; File E89439; Series AG-0015; Updated 11-08-2017)" is it actually UL 1449 listed?

Thanks for the help.

It's not UL listed, but it might be certified by another NRTL to meet UL standards. Perhaps you could contact Tripp Lite directly if you are concerned about it.

The rest of that sentence is "Intertek Report 3143328CHI-003; Series AGIB7189; Updated 09-14-2017"
Intertek is the company that provides ETL certification, which is an accepted NRTL.

The difference is that Intertek does not WRITE testing standards, they USE the ones that UL has written.

I have 4 different tripp lite products that I bought in the last 2 weeks.

2 are UL listed and 2 are ETL Listed. Both are a recognized NRTL on the current list.

All are made in China unfortunately.

It's a shame that a good company like Tripp Lite would do something like that. They are a branch of Eaton.
So is Crouse - Hinds. They routinely claim their products are ‘UL Compliant’ rather than listed. In truth, most are listed, but some aren’t.
