UL listed Light Fixture

We have a situation at our Power Generation Facility concerning Light Fixtures. The fixture in question is an outdoor wall mounted High Prssure Sodium. We have a maintenance team that wants to remove the HPS Igniter as well as the Xfmr, leaving the screw in bulb holder and using a screw in flourescent bulb. My contention is that if we do this, we will no longer have a UL listed device. I feel that if there was a claim to be filed with our Insurance Underwriter due to a fire in this area, the Underwriters would certainly cite this to refuse our claim. All comments are welcome and thanks to everyone.

Re: UL listed Light Fixture

I agree with you unless you are using a listed kit to convert the fixture and it was listed for that particular fixture. For the purpose you are questioning, none of our responses mean anything. Contact UL directly for information that will be in writing. :D
