We were reading where motors are used in classified haz locations when they are sent out for repair they should only be sent to a shop that is ul approved or registered.
My question would be how would most electricians view this requirement and do you send your motors only to ul shops?

That would seem to imply there is a UL listing for rebuilt motors.

A non UL shop cannot repair an explosion proof motor and send it back out with the UL tag intact. They must be A UL qualified shop to do so. The winding is not as much of an issue as the mechanical aspects of the fits on the shell to end bells and end bell to shaft clearances. Thes fits must reamin within the set limits that UL sets out . You certainly dont want the sparks or heat from a failed winding to be able to communicate with the outer hazadrous area lest you provoke the explosive gods!!
