UL vs UL1703

Dumb question here:
What is the difference between a module being UL listed vs UL 1703?
What does that mean for me as an installer in CA?


(Background:
i want to expand a customer's 2.96 kw, 16 @ SHARP NT-185U1 system. I cannot for the life of me find any panel that matches existing panels in amps. I wil lbe wiring into existing 2 strings since inverter has capacity.
Only panel i found:
these no name (likely chinese) ones,
Topoint JTM 195-72M.
They are a near perfect match for the standard 32" by 62", 72 cell mod.s of a few years ago.
Like the Sharp panels.
They claim to be UL but NOT UL 1703........am cautiously worried)

Ask them what UL standard they meet, if not 1703.
 
Of the (17) current NRTLs, only (4) have UL 1703 under their scope of recognition. They are CSA, Intertek ETL, TUV Rheinland PTL, and UL.

This means any of these (4) NRTLs can certify a product to the UL 1703 standard. The others cannot.

So, a "UL Listed" PV module or panel means the NRTL UL has certified the product to the UL 1703 standard. A "CSA listed" PV module or panel means the NRTL CSA has certified the product to the UL 1703 standard, and so on, and so on...
 
Thanks for the link to check certificate authenticity. Yup, it checks out as legit.
