Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

Actually I'm sorry Roger. The safety forum is probably a better place for this.

It's unsafe, it's against the NEC. It's bad on so many levels!

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

Somebody ought to buy the information from him, wait about a week, then Email him telling him that a loved one was electrocuted by using that very unsafe and noncompliant information.

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

Now that is disgusting to see that on ebay. i hope someone on Ebay is watching this one and really should pull that listing off from it.

if the homeowner start it up and forgot to switch the main breaker off it will destory the genny and what more the POCO will be ticked off
{ beeped alot of bad words off } and that owner will face prostution of abusing the poco system and it can kill the Lineperson whom maybe working on the line and find out it is backfeeded then it get ugly.

i am sure some of you will send a email to the ebay company and the person whom try to sell it will have second thought comming up this will volited alot of codes wise

Merci , Marc

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

I guess I don't need to buy the literature now.

With the Whole House Generator Cable you can run your generator and have electricity throughout your entire home. Enjoy hot water. Watch any TV. Use your electrical stove. Never have spoiled food. Run mulitple refrigerators. Run the hair dryer. Almost unlimited usage.
But can I run my dryer?

{homeowner scratching his head}
Gee, this cord is about half as big as the cord on my range. I wonder if that will be ok.
Ah, what the hell.
HONEY, I got the generator running. You can throw that turkey in now!

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

BTW, does it come in 3 and 4 wire models?

Another thing. Not quite as bad as the things already mentioned. But should some poor sap fire that mug up while it is not plugged in, then the male spades on the dryer cord cap would be energized.

Bob, I get. It's a Florida thing.
Must be the heat.

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

Many homes still have what is called a "split-buss" panel. There is no main disconnect, this makes it very difficult to isolate the utility lines from the generator when it back feeds through a 240v Receptacle.

Split-buss or not, Any person who blatantly chooses to ignore the public's safety and subjects others to lethal levels of electrical voltage is a criminal. They should be prosecuted the same as if they committed a crime with a gun. In my opinion, it's equally dangerous.

Guess I won't be using this jury rig because I do not have a main disconnect. And for that matter I do not have a generator either.

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

I don't have an ebay account, but if you do, you can report this guy to ebay. With a little luck, maybe they will delete this ad. (I intend to do this later, when I have more time.)

Re: Unbelievable E-bay listing

I live in Florida and went through the hurricanes and lost power for 8 days at one point.I have to admit I backfed my genset pretty much the same way but was dilligent enough to ensure that main was off and no line crews in the area.It took a week to restore power to us and I have to tell that seeing this available to john q public is scary.I have since rewired the service to send genset power to a generator panel that isolates required circuits to be energized IE:water heater well and fridge and gen. lighting. The idea that an inexperienced person walking around with an energized cord cap is well more that scary.

I have an eBay account, and I just did file a report. I'll let you know what response I receive. They promise a response with a couple days.
