Re: Under carpet

I would think not.
1.lamp cord is not approved for any raceway that i know of.
2.Lamp cord in a raceway would amount to the same as running it behind a wall.

Re: Under carpet

"Electric" and "Run under carpet"-a word and a phrase that don't work together.
You wouldn't run any type of wire under a carpet because none are listed for such installation [potential for physical damage is
the most glaring possibility closely followed by product listing allowed uses].

the fact that the question is asked points to not enough recpt.'s -correct the problem by adding recpt. via [1]snaked wiring or [2]wiremold.

wiremold or any other conduit would not be installed under the carpet either if for no other reason than the fact that you don't want to set yourself up for the lawsuit that would be filed by the first person to trip over the bump it would create under the carpet.

Re: Under carpet

Mthead
I beg to differ look at this:

324.1 Scope.
This article covers a field-installed wiring system for branch circuits incorporating Type FCC cable and associated accessories as defined by the article. The wiring system is designed for installation under carpet squares.
725.61(E)(6) Type CMUC undercarpet communications wires and cables shall be permitted to be installed under carpet.
Not that I would use it but it is allowed,
and I have seen many marketed systems that are UL listed for use under carpet as a plug in system extention type for offices.

Re: Under carpet

YOU GOT ME AS FAR AS THERE BEING A SYSTEM THAT MAY BE USED UNDER CARPET IN SOME APPLICATION'S.
HOWEVER -324-12[4] IN 2002 AND 328-5[4] IN 1999
STATE THIS WIRING METHOD IS NOT PERMIITTED IN RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATIONS[and call it a hunch but I think this thread was probably started because of a residential situation?]
P.S.-didn't know I had CapsLock on all that time.

Re: Under carpet

That's ok you can yell at me as I should of read father down.

I do remember installing T&B Versa-Trak system a long time ago which went under carpet in offices but since then the only other system that I know of is one by hubble if they even still offer one. I have seen some fancy plug strips that have a section that is flat covered with a hard rubber that says listed for undercarpet use but I have never installed one.
