Have a deck with the Trex rain escape system which is basically a membrane below the decking to catch all the water and to keep everything underneath dry. They want to put recessed lighting underneath the deck which will be a screened in porch area. Would the area underneath the membrane be considered a damp location? Seems to me there could be some condensation issues so don't want to use a regular can housing or wafer light.

i'm on a similar job, archy spec'd the same thing out
The underside is all boarded up tight
they claim it's a dry location.......maybe for the wiring , but the fixtures should be damp rated imho

Yes that's the same system. This is also going to be finished on the underside with wood soffit.

If it's between the rain escape and a finished ceiling, it's a dry location. That system is made to keep water above it
