Is there a NEC code requirment for splicing UF wire underground. Or is there an approved device for slicing it.

There are many approved methods of splicing UF underground. I would check with the supply company and see what they carry. Many people use a spice with a heat shrink application. There are other styles.

Here is one I have never seen before.

You can get them at Amazon--- ebay-- ace hardware. It is a GB HST-1300
Note... not listed for 14/2, only 14/3 and 12/2 up to 8/3 max.

I have used the Pinapple looking splice... Its real easy no need to heatshrink, you make the connections and screw the 2 halfs together.
