Can you run 12-24v wire without conduit above accessible ceilings per code?..............................

Ask because showing a cat 6 and a 12-24v dc power from DRi to closets. They said the cat 6 can be free air above ceilings(no conduit( but we're trying to avoid running the 12-24v in conduit all the way from DRI to closet. They didn't address the 12-24v.

As I understand it, it will depend upon the class rating of your 12-24V power supply. If your 12-24V comes from a battery bank with 1000A of available short circuit current, then the rules are rather different than if the 12-24V comes from a listed power limited DC supply with a 'Class 2' label on it.
