I am doing some work on an older house. The dining nook has 2 outlets, a switch and a ceiling light. Each of them has one two wire cable, none of the things work, no power. Has anyone run across a similar situation and how was it handled?

There must be a junction box somewhere. Look for a gfci somewhere or a bad breaker. Could be many things.

Does the ceiling light have only a 2 wire cable ??
(Many of the older homes I have seen use the ceiling light box as a distribution point)

You are probably right. I found a 4x4 box in the ceiling in another room. It is between the area I am talking about and the panel. I won’t be able to check it out until Saturday. Hoping it is the junction box.
