Tell the lady that Starbucks does not let their customers set the price on their "not so good" cup of coffee!:D

sure they do.....they let you decide your price point...they tell you up front that their coffee is $3....if you choose not to pay $3, then you can go someplace else....the same as you telling them up front that it will cost $300....if they choose not to pay $300, they can hire someone else...

so, in essence, they do let the customer set the price....

here, starbucks charges $3 for a large coffee....what do they charge there? my guess? $3...there goes that economy theory...

If you travel arounnd the country you will find many prices that are the same with nationals, from fast food to slippers, the real shame and reason for the dips are the banks with intrest rates that inslave just about everyone, and it appears people enjoy being used, so don't blame the economy.

good point!

good point!

thanks...the big difference though is this....starbucks (or McDonalds, dunkin donuts, etc) will not alter their price if you balk....

contractors on the other hand, will drop their price in a heartbeat if the customer even looks like they are going to balk about it....

starbucks, et al, have trained us to pay the price they post....

contractors have trained customers to hem and haw and question price, so we drop it...

So if I choose not to pay $3.58 for a gallon of gas today, where can I go to get some for $2 a gallon?

apples and oranges...though i agree with you regarding the gas...but you have 1,000,000 places across the country that sell coffee...you have a dozen companies that refine and sell gas....supply and demand plays a huge part in this...

I heard gas is selling in Kuwait for 12? a gallon, 17? in Venezuala. I'm thinking of renting a half-dozen supertankers and going over to fill up. I should make a killing when I get back.....

so long as you don't have to pay taxes on it:D

I'm a professional, licensed, bonded and insured electrician. But I'm a hack oil man. :D T. Boone Pickens is spending his days on oil forums griping about me being a trunk-slamming gasoline peddler.

No, wait, tankers don't have trunks. Can I be a...um.... er..... lesee.... how 'bout hatch-slammer?

speaking of fuel though...y'all may want to fill all your vehicles today and tomorrow, just in case that hurricane knocks some refineries off line....not only will prices shoot up, but supply may be curtailed...

now, back to the original topic...

upfront pricing is becoming the norm in all industries...it's already the norm in every industry but the trades...learn how to do it, get used to it, and use it to your advantage...if done properly, at the end of the year, you will always make more money with upfront pricing than T&M...

all I did was turn two menu toggle switches "on" DUH, and change primary ballast taps on two MH fixtures and I was done...That will be $75...thank you

If this was an out of state EC then how and when are you getting paid?

I use upfront pricing but if your not careful you could lose money.it is based on the material and average time it takes to peeform that task.also there are adders but like I said you have to know what you are doing takes practice

I'm one of the few that thinks most people are honest, most of the time...I emailed the invoice and the secretary said they would get a check out to me...Now if it had been $7500 instead of $75, I would have had a contract signature
