Just make sure the neutrals & grounds are properly seperated in the existing panel, and the bonding method is removed as well.
 
Run #4 and drop a 90 amp breaker in the panel. As scott said #4 is good for 85 amps and as long as the load is 85 or less than you can use a 90 amp breaker (art. 240.4(B))
 
I thought they added wording in the 08 to clear this up??

the main power feeder shall be the feeder between the main disconnect and the panelboard that supplies, either by branch circuits or by feeders, or both ,all loads that are part or associated with the dwelling unit.......

If you are on the 05 it is less clear and some would argue the table could be used, though it was most likely not the intent.
