UPS Clearance

A UPS has a 480V battery bank. The manufacturer says the UPS needs 3 feet of clearance in front of the UPS.

Question: Does the 3' satisify 110.26(A) because the voltage isn't referenced to ground? Or is 3-1/2' or even 4' of clearance required depending on whats on the other side of the space?

Depends on the design of the UPS.

The batteries are often ungrounded on serious industrial UPS systems. I'm not familiar with commercial or data center class UPS's - they are often designed from a different perspective and many details like this are different.
