Anoyone see an issuwith a recessed incandescent installed "face up" on a plant shelf? Can 410.65(A) be complied with if the trim is enclosed?
I think if you take a look at Incandescent Recessed Luminaires (IEZX) in the UL White book you will find enough there to say that the fixtures are only listed for walls and ceilings.Originally posted by bphgravity:

The section goes on to stateTYPE NON-IC LUMINAIRE ? Recessed luminaires, except those identified as Type IC or for use in concrete only, are intended to be installed in an uninsulated or insulated ceiling (or wall), with all insulation kept a minimum distance of 3 inches from the sides of the luminaire and not placed over the luminaire such that it would entrap the heat produced by the luminaire.
I am not sure I understand what ground mounted means while at the same time it is face up in a wooden deck.A ground-mounted recessed luminaire that is suitable for installation in non-fire resistant mediums such as a wooden deck is marked ??SUITABLE FOR GROUND-MOUNTED RECESSED.??
g3guy you might want to know the 'players' before you go accusing people of not thinking.Originally posted by g3guy:
